Jake . . . when it all began.

JAKE'S STORY

On Tuesday, October 15th, 2013, Doctors found a large tumor in Jake's right kidney. He was taken up to Primary Children's Medical Center where they did ultrasounds on him. Jake was then diagnosed with a malignant tumor in his right kidney. The doctors say it is Nephroblastoma or more commonly known as a Wilms' Tumor.

Jake had not been feeling good for about 3 weeks prior to this. His family had been sick during this time with strep throat. They all thought he had strep too and was just having a hard time getting over it, even though he was on an antibiotic.

On Saturday, October 12th, 2013, Jake's mom and dad took him in to the pediatrician's because they had found blood in his urine after Jake had gone to the bathroom around 3:30 am. The doctor's gave him antibiotics and told them to bring him back on monday. Monday he appeared to be doing better, however, on tuesday he was obviously not feeling well so they took him back in. Jen just felt something wasn't right. The

doctor discovered what he thought was a lump on his right side. Because it was after 5 pm the only place still open for an ultra sound was Primary Children's. They went up there and the ultra sound showed a large tumor on his right kidney.

On wednesday, October 16, 2013, Primary Children's ran several other tests and diagnosed him with Nephroblastoma or more commonly known as a Wilm's tumor on his right kidney. They decided to admit Jake into the hospital to monitor his blood pressure and try to get it under control before going in for surgery; which is his next step.

This blog was set up to help keep all of our family and friends informed of Jake's condition throughout his road to recovery.

Jake is just 2 1/2 years old.
